My New Look

I got a beat down for a photo shoot I did for my anniversary. I would like to thank Alexandra Butler for doing my makeup. She was in the STL over the weekend and I could not pass up the opportunity to meet her and let her work her magic on me. I had a great experience. She was so professional. If you are ever in the Atlanta area, please look this young lady up. She's doing big things. http://www.alexandrabutlermua.com/

Channeling my inner Janelle Monae

I love this style. I wore it to my nephews 5th grade graduation.I will most definitely have to try it again.

Roller Set

Can't wait for the results. I bought 3 gallon zip lock bags full of these rods from a yard sale. I wanted to try the larger rods for softer fuller curls. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Yea!! We did it

My son graduated this past Tuesday. This is the hairstyle I wore, it only took a few minutes to pin up. Kinda Janelle Monae-ish. I like it though.

Feeling Blue, My new Ulta nail polish

I purchased this polish for only .99 cents. This was a great bargain and it seems to wear well. I took these pics awhile ago and cant remember the name of the polish, but love it!

Products I'm Lovin on My Sisterlocks!

These are some products I wanted to share with you that I love to use on myself and my daughter's hair.
Shampoo: Giovanni Shampoo
I love this product, I gives you just enough moisture without weighing your hair down after washing. I did a post on this product. Check it out! Giovanni Shampoo
Condition: I use the Sisterlock Reconstructor Conditioner. I only use this after I wash. I rub about a dime/nickel size amount into the palms of my hands and run a little water between hands and rub throughout my locks. A little goes a long way. I do not rinse out.

Revive: I enjoy Now brand essential oils. Add a couple of drops of you favorite essential oils to about 8-10 ounces of water in a spray bottle, and your good to go. I use this daily.
Refresh: I use Oyin Handmade's Juices and Berries. This product is best used when it is diluted with water. It does not take away from it great smell. If it is not diluted, you must use this product sparingly or it will cause build up in your locks. I love the Oyin products because I use them on myself as wall as my daughter. I love the way these products make her hair smell. All of their products are made by hand and with love :) Check out Oyin here:  Oyin Handmade

Finishings: I use Joie Naturals My Gel This is a all natural water based gel. It conditions, thickens and nourishes the hair while it stimulates the roots. I lay down my edges with this product. I also use the Burnt Sugar Pomade by Oyin to oil my scalp( very lightly) You dont ever want to put a lot of product on you scalp.. It has a very light weight consistency.

Miss Jessie's Event at Mathew Dickey's Boys Club in St. Louis Mo.

Okay, I'm not sure where to begin, but I can tell you it was a awesome experience. There were so many people. If you didn't buy your ticket early on line, YOU MISSED OUT BIG TIME. The line to get in was so long.

Me with the beautiful ladies of Miss Jessie's

There were 700 goodie bags given out. I was one of the lucky ones to receive one. Miss Jessie's provided over $100 worth of products in the gift bags.

Now of course I won't use these products, but I know someone who could.
;-)

The event hosted a variety of guest speakers. Youtube's Himay10nence was the MC, Beautifulbrnbabydol from youtube was a guest speaker along with Tameka Stigers from Locs of Glory. She is the loctician that started my SL's. I learned a lot of useful tips not only for myself but for my daughter too. I met so many great people. Can't wait to try my new products on my daughter. After the event, I went to Sweetie Pies for dinner. Mmmmm good.

My First Client

Meet Ms. Velma,

I met her at the gym. She is 70 years young. She started out with two strand twist and decided that she wanted to try interlocks( I can not called them sisterlocks because I am not certified.I hope to be soon. She asked if I was willing to re tighten her hair. I was hesitant at first, but decided to give it shot. Ms. Velma loved it!!!!! I'm not sure if I told you guys, but I have been re tightening my hair for about eight months now. Although I have not taken any re tightening classes, (which I plan to do in the future) I have not had any problems. I learned everything I know from youtube, books, and my old Sisterlock Consultant. Some times you have to take chances in life, and I am happy I did. It saves time and money.

Sisterlocks and the Gym.

Hi Guys,

I know it's been awhile, but I'm back. I wanted to share with you one of the reasons I decided to get sisterlocks. The gym. Yep, I was going to the salon every other week, and wouldn't dare do anything to compromise may hair style. And lets not talk about sweating, NOT..... but now that has all changed. In order for me to live a healthy lifestyle, I had to find a way to care for my hair while working out, and look good doing it too. :)
